In celebration of Clarissa's birthday every year, her parents get professional photos taken of just her. For her 4th birthday, I'm the lucky photographer who got to take them, as the whole family is vacationing on the Outer Banks this week! Clarissa is a beautiful sweet girl, and she's also very good at having her picture taken. We have this amazing tidal pool right now in Kitty Hawk, between Maynard and Bennett Streets, and I suggested we take photos there, as I thought it could be a magical setting. Clarissa's mom, JoAnna, asked her what theme she wanted for her birthday this year, and she chose mermaids. She had a beautiful Lilly Pulitzer dress and the cutest mermaid bathing suit. JoAnna brought bubbles and I suggested bringing some balloons and cupcakes - we had a great time making these photos. As luck would have it, sunset was soon after high tide on this evening, and the tidal pool was indeed magical, looking like an infinity pool under the pink and blue sky, fading into the silvery ocean, complete with dolphins playing.
